Hi Michael,

Thanks for creating this website and helping us all move along. I have a few quick questions.
I am a recent graduate with my bachelors of science in Interior Design. I know that its different but a lot of our teachers were architects themselves and our learning criteria was more architectural.

Anyway, I understand that as long as I work under a licensed architect for a certain amount of years I would be able to take the ARE. I’ve worked for a licensed architect for 3 years now and I’d like to start studying for the exam as soon as possible. I know I may have a while to go but I would really like to learn more about the exam and exactly what I need to do in order to prepare myself.

Is there any advice you can give me in regards taking my first steps to preparing for the exam. I intend to begin logging my hours to NCARB this summer. How exactly does it work? What books should I be getting now? What are the exam types? And are there any tutors out there who help people prepare for this exam?

I really appreciate you taking time from your day to answer these questions.

Thank you,

Danielle Hayman
